Jill and the Killers #4: This is the End (?)
Reviewed by Seth Adrian Romo
Jill and the Killers #4 wraps up the first arc of this crime series with a tense final issue. There’s a lot to appreciate from the creative team as this story has been a fun twist on murder mysteries.
This series revolves around a group of friends whose true-crime subscription game bleeds into their actual lives.
Written by Olivia Cuartero-Briggs , this issue is entertaining and easy to pick up to new readers, although the pacing can be a bit convoluted. Additionally, the dialogue from characters leans on being exposition heavy and this detracts from the overall experience.
The art from Roberta Ingranata is solid and does a lot of the heavy lifting. With this being the final issue of a story centered around tracking down a serial killer, there are panels with good jump scares and Ingranata’s art works well.
The notion of a teen whose missing mom is connected to larger unsolved crimes is a good idea and while this first arc could have used some work, future arcs could easily make a few tweaks to get the story in the intended direction.
Final Verdict
There are decent elements that fans of thrillers are likely to appreciate, however, should the story continue, the script could be a little tighter.
